User journey vs Buyer journey

user journey vs buyer journey

User journey and Buyer (customer) journey seem to be quite similar concepts, and many people mix them up. But actually these are absolutely different things, and now we'll explain you what is what.

So, Buyer journey is a natural process, during which a person realizes a problem, looks for the ways to solve it and chooses one of these ways.

User journey is a programmed experience, created to lead people to a purchase.

There are 3 stages of the Buyer journey:

  1. Awareness (experiencing the problem or an opportunity);

  2. Consideration (clearly realizing the problem, looking for the solutions);

  3. Decision (deciding what solution to choose).

Why is it important to research this process? Because on every step a person needs to be supported on one`s way to the purchase, and it is your chance to gain more clients.

User journey is a programmed experience, created to lead people to a purchase.

You should also remember, that User journey needs to be reviewed very often (as it is just a marketing instrument and it can be tested and improved), while Buyer journey stays mostly the same in a long period of time.
