Do we really need navigation on a landing?

We've all been told a lot that without a good navigation our Landing Pages will never get a high conversion level. But nowadays there is a very interesting tendency of creating landing pages with no navigation or so-called "if you really want it" navigation.

Such landings are also called "Upside down landing pages" because instead of placing the menu at the top designers place it at the bottom of the page. Why would they do that? The reason is very easy: it helps to concentrate user`s attention on the main target.
